The Indigenous Latinx Student Organization (ILSO), is hosting a traditional Maya, Nahua, & Purépecha Día de los Muertos. Their community alter at the Kellogg Center Patio is open to all.

Ghost Supper
November 5, 5-8 PM | Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center

Feasting our loved ones and ancestors in the spirit world. A collaboration between the Indigenous Youth Empowerment Program (IYEP), the North American Indigenous Student Organization (NAISO), and Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center. Asian Pacific American Studies Fall Lecture

While this talk isn’t specifically a Native American Heritage Month event, it takes place in November and will address indigenous issues. Dr. Upadhyay (they/them) has also kindly offered to meet with any interested grad students whether in a group or in one-on-one meetings. They are a great asset for anyone interested in transnational, colonial, diasporic, indigenous, queer, and/or Asian/Asian American histories. 19th Annual Indigenous Law Conference
November 17-18 | College of Law
An Indigenous Law Conference was an obvious priority when the ILPC was established in 2003. A collaborative partnership with TICA in 2015 allows the Indigenous Law Conference to be a cutting edge event led by those in the field, In-House Counsel: some of the most important people working for tribal self-governance. The conference’s main goal is to provide useful information for Tribal In-House Counsel. In the past, conferences have centered on a variety of themes. https://www.indigenouslawconference.com/

Elise Paschen & Gordon Henry: Celebratory Reading and Conversation for Gordon Henry’s new book Spirit Matters

In celebration of his latest book Spirit Matters, Gordon reads from new work and joins Elise Paschen in conversation, to explore Indigenous and Native American (White Earth Anishinaabeg Nation; Osage Nation) poetics, language politics, and navigating institutions as poets, scholars, editors and community workers.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Remembering and honoring transgender, nonbinary, and/or Two-Spirit people murdered over the past year. This event will feature Indigenous speakers Jamie John (Odawa) and Petrona Xemi Tapepechul (Nahua). Both the North American Indigenous Student Organization (NAISO) and the Indigenous Latinx Student Organization (ILSO) are co-hosts of this Gender & Sexuality Campus Center event. All are welcome.
